Introduction

The aim of the course is, first and foremost, to gain an initial and general understanding of Kantian thought. In this sense, some of the questions we should attempt to answer are:

  • Why is Kant considered one of the most important, if not the most important thinker in philosophy?

  • What is the significant contribution he made to philosophy?

  • Does this contribution have any relevance to the history of humanity? If so, what is it?

  • Does it make sense to study Kant even today?

  • More generally, what is the purpose of philosophy?
